The future starts now! The NYSACAC College Fairs Committee can wait to “see” you at our spring fair. Not only will you get to meet with more than 180+ colleges and universities from across the state, country, and even the world--you’ll get an opportunity to get some insights into postsecondary planning. Below is a sampling of educational sessions you are welcome to join in to learn more about as you get started in your post-secondary planning.

Which SUNY are You? (10 AM, 11 AM, and 12 PM) 

SUNY is the largest public system of higher education in the country with 64 campuses ranging in location from Buffalo to Long Island and everywhere in-between. Whether you dream of designing cutting-edge computer programs, discovering life-saving medical innovations, or performing Shakespeare on stage, there is a SUNY for you! Let’s build your SUNY list.

CUNY Admissions: Discover the Possibilities (10 AM and 12 PM) 

Meet with an admissions counselor to learn more about the 25 colleges that make up the City University of New York and the 1,750 top-notch academic programs it offers.

Converse con un consejero de admisiones para aprender más sobre las 25 colegios que forman parte de la Universidad de la Cuidad de Nueva York y los 1,750 programas académicos que ofrece.

Buscando Su Lugar Adecuado (10:30 AM) 

Conéctate con nosotros para una sesión de Admisiones Universitarias en Español con información enfocada en admisiones generales, ayuda financiera y becas, programa de la Oportunidad Educativa, y culaquier otra pregunta que tenga sobre el processo de admisión.

Finding Your Fit (10:30 AM) 

NYSACAC President Marissa Guijarro and NYSACAC President-Elect Marie Nocella will lead this presentation and Q&A focused on ways to conduct your college search despite COVID-19, quarantine, and social distancing. They'll show you how to research colleges, understand their culture, and ask thoughtful questions that help you better understand the experience they offer and how to identify your best fit.

NYS Opportunity Programs (11:30 AM) 

New York is the State of Opportunity. Learn how HEOP/EOP/SEEK/CD ensures students with academic potential are provided the opportunity to attend a college, earn a degree and achieve their educational goals. 

College Admissions + Financial Aid for Immigrant Students (11:30 AM) 

Immigrants are welcomed here. Do not let fear about your immigration status stand in your way of achieving your dream. Not only does the DREAM Act open the doors to higher education, it also provides access to New York State-administered grants and scholarships. If you attended or graduated from a NYS high school, attended an approved NYS high school equivalency program, or received a NYS equivalency diploma, you may be eligible for state aid. 

Admissions Process for Queer Students (11:30 AM) 

This session will discuss the admissions process, focusing on the needs of queer students. Panelists will share tips that will aid students understand how LGBTQ-friendly a campus is truly and address important items students should consider as part of their college search process.

Financial Aid (12:30 PM) 

For most students planning to attend college or career school, financial aid is essential. We’ll walk you through how financial aid works, resources to pay for college, and loan repayment options.
