Job Summary:
The Sage Colleges seeks a full time Director of Graduate and Adult Admission to join an experienced and energetic admission staff .The individual in this position will work within a dynamic, collaborative enrollment management environment and be an integral part of the enrollment team. The primary focus of this position will be to consistently achieve institutional enrollment goals through the implementation of a comprehensive recruiting effort that is data driven, focused on meeting student needs and utilizing proven and state-of-the-art enrollment techniques.
Twelve month, full time administrative position:
Primary Function: Development and implementation of new student enrollment strategies for Sage Graduate School and Sage After Work.
Position Summary and Qualifications:
The Director of Graduate and Adult Admission, with services on both the Albany and Troy campuses, will work in a dynamic, collaborative enrollment management environment and will serve in a leadership role on the enrollment team. The Director is accountable for consistent achievement of institutional enrollment goals through the implementation of a comprehensive recruiting effort that is data driven, focused on meeting student needs and utilizing proven and state-of-the-art enrollment techniques.
Staff will include a Associate Director of Graduate and Adult Admission and a Graduate and Adult Admission Counselor. In addition, there will be an admission specialist on each campus as well as graduate assistants, as assigned. Special program management will include strategy for overall new student growth as well as corporate client relations, tuition reimbursement and healthcare alliance programming. Besides Admission colleagues, the director will work closely with the director of articulation programs, deans of the graduate and bachelors degree completion programs, department chairs, program directors and coordinators.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include providing leadership in planning and implementing marketing, recruitment, and admission strategies that will result in the enrollment of a targeted number of talented and diverse students at the graduate and continuing education level, and working closely with faculty, the Dean and the director of communications to accomplish goals. The position requires an individual who can establish a strong campus presence and manage multiple projects while exhibiting professionalism, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to teamwork across the campus. The new director will have an ability to develop creative solutions, use technology and research in recruitment, and apply strong visionary, motivational, and management skills so he/she can effectively manage a dynamic environment. A “can do” attitude driven by results and positive demeanor are essential. Willingness to work evening and weekends are required.
Management/Supervision Responsibility
• Work with the Associate Vice President for Admission to establish and manage toward annual recruitment goals.
• Supervise the staff and daily operations for the SGS and SAW Admission Offices.
• Implement graduate assistantship program as a critical component of the SGS enrollment recruitment strategies, including recruitment and training of graduate assistants.
• As appropriate and pertinent to the fulfillment of other specific recruiting objectives, cultivate collaborative relations with the corporate community, four-year colleges, community colleges and other sources of potential students for SGS and SAW.
• Develop and measure marketing and enrollment strategies and tactics to drive enrollment for graduate and adult learners.
• Work with the Associate Vice President for Admission and Director of Communications to establish the annual direct mail and communications campaigns for SGS and SAW.
• Design weekly reports for monitoring and managing undergraduate and graduate new student enrollment, Health Alliance, corporate reimbursement and other contract activities.
• Participate in the regular operations meetings held by the Associate Vice President for Admission.
• Work with the Associate Vice President for Admission to plan and monitor • expenditure levels for SGS and SAW admission activities..
• Work with the Associate Vice President for Admission and support staff for both graduate and adult admission to plan and execute on and off-campus admission programming.
Recruitment
• Implement and report on appropriate prospect management activities for adult learners.
• Utilize data obtained from external market research on non-traditional learners to improve recruitment outcomes.
• Time commitment: days, evenings, weekends (as necessary)
• Travel required: graduate school fairs, corporate visits, special workshops and presentations.
Application Evaluation
• Work with the graduate program directors for Sage Graduate School to coordinate the application review and acceptance process. Establish metrics and monitor progress in SGS and SAW application process from point of application to registration.
• Work with the Director of Student Financial Aid to design and implement an efficient and effective graduate assistantship award process, with an appropriate role for the SGS Dean and program directors.
• With the Graduate and Adult Admission Counselor and Associate Director of Enrollment Management, coordinate post-decision follow-up to maximize yield for SGS and SAW.
Community Relations and Liaisons
• Work with relevant Deans and faculty members to assist in the implementation of enrollment plans
• Work with the Director of Articulation Programs to develop and implement a seamless and efficient process for the transfer of credit for eligible SGS and SAW students.
• Work with appropriate college personnel to develop a dynamic and effective process for the evaluation of credit for eligible work and life experiences for SAW students..
• Interact with appropriate administrative areas for the planned coordination of recruitment efforts including Records and Registration, Student Accounts, and Financial Aid Services.
Interviewing
• Meet with prospective, applied and accepted students per appointment and/or drop-in visits
• Ascertain admissibility and accept students (SAW) or refer them to program directors (SGS) for acceptance.
Academic Liaison
• Interact with College Deans, Department Chairs, Program Coordinators and Directors for informational purposes and to encourage faculty participation in Admission efforts.
• Work with these same individuals and the Office of Communications to develop and maintain marketing plans for specific academic programs.
Administrative Liaison
• Interface with administrative areas for the planned coordination of recruitment efforts; specifically undergraduate admission as well as Student Services, Communications, and Campus Life
• Work with communication department to establish and measure strategic recruitment plan
• Work with Director of Articulation Programs to coordinate efforts for outreach
• Participate in retention activities as a member of the SGS and SAW retention committees
Operational Accountability
• Work with the associate vice president of admission and coordinator of enrollment information to insure the accuracy and consistency of data produced by the inquiry/application and student information processing centers for SGS and SAW offices of admission
• establish and maintain data integrity in a cross-boundary environment
• encourage use of technology for problem solving
• Analyze data in monthly reports make adjustments to strategic recruitment plan as appropriate
• Work with the coordinator of enrollment information to develop early warning reports and planning documents.
Qualifications:
The individual must be self-directed and team oriented and capable and willing to work toward individual and common institutional goals. Interpersonal skills, especially communication of all types, are necessary. Significant business/sales experience is preferred, with preference toward individuals with a proven track record of accomplishment and orientation toward consumer satisfaction.
Master’s Degree is preferred; Bachelor’s degree required. In addition, 3-5 years of graduate admission/higher education are acceptable qualifications for this position.
Technical Knowledge and Proficiency Skills:
• High level of computer literacy and proficiency in data base management.
• The ability to develop and analyze statistical reports.
• Possess high levels of interpersonal skills including superior communication and team skills.
