Admission Counselor – Recruitment of Minority Students (AA# 08-80)
The Admission Counselor position(classified as State University Administrator 1, starting salary $34,093) will be responsible for recruiting students at high school visits, college fairs, and community colleges in an assigned territory and other areas as assigned. The counselor will be responsible for both small and large group presentations and will be required to conduct on-campus interviews with prospective students and parents. Additional responsibilities include assuming primary role in new student diversity recruitment efforts and developing relationships with high school counselors, community leaders, and non-profit organization staff and coordinating visit event programs for students from diverse populations.

Qualifications:
This position requires a bachelor’s degree and six months of professional work experience. Experience working in undergraduate college admissions and with student populations preferred. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience working with minority students. In addition, this position requires successful performance in an on-campus interview, a valid driver’s license and extensive overnight travel and evening/weekend hours. Successful candidates will have excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills, ability to multi-task and a commitment to working in a team environment. Experience with recruitment technology, travel planning, exceptional customer service skills and experience working with diverse populations are preferred.
