Charge
The charge of the Human Relations Committee is to develop programs and policy recommendations, which will assist in the expansion of access to post-secondary educational opportunities for those who, for reasons of poverty or other experiences, have been denied options available to others.
Responsibilities of the Chair/Co-Chairs
- Attend the August and December Executive Board meetings, and more, if possible.
- Recruit diverse committee members, including members from public and private institutions, college and high school counselors, and various ethnic backgrounds.
- Submit committee report to the Vice President for Diversity, Equity, and Access as requested.
- Organize meetings of the committee.
- Maintain communication with the Executive Board and committee members and submit reports to VP for Diversity, Equity, and Access prior to each meeting.
- Make effective use of committee members by appointing a coordinator for each programming effort, such as the Seedling Program, Coming Together Conference, and Camp College.
- Oversee issues relating to recruitment and advocacy within the committee.
- Develop goals and a strategic plan for the committee and programs.
- Keep abreast of policies and programs at the national level and incorporate them when appropriate.
Responsibilities of the Coordinators
- Organize assigned programs.
- Report progress to committee chair(s).
- Submit appropriate programming information to the Newsletter Editor for appropriate issue(s).
